Customs, WR in last four

Coimbatore: Western Railway (Mumbai), playing its last league match, had to get past defending champion Customs and Central Excise (Kochi) for a semifinal berth.

It did that in style scoring a 71-60 win in the 42nd all-India basketball tournament for men for the PSG Trophy at the PSG Tech courts here on Thursday.

Customs Kochi, Western Railway and Karnataka finished their Group `A' league engagements with one win and one loss each. But, Customs Kochi (1.177), with the quotient rule working in its favour, topped the table for last-four berth.

The results (league):

Group A: Western Railway (Mumbai) 71 bt Customs and Central Excise (Kochi) 60; Karnataka State 86 (Srinivas Gowda 22, Sanjay Raj 19) bt Western Railway 71 (Trideep 25, Riyazudeen 20).
