An unbeaten 54 by Venugopal helped Ramesh Flowers Cricket Club defeat Dhrangdhar Chemical Works Cricket Club (Sahupuram) by 54 runs and enter the final of the 17th annual L.P. Rayen Memorial Trophy cricket tournament at Tuticorin on Thursday. The scores (semifinals): Ramesh Flowers 167 for six in 30 overs (Venugopal 54 n.o., Edwin 43, Raj three for 24) bt DCW CC 113 in 25.3 overs; SPIC Central Sports Council 90 in 27.5 overs lost to Power CC 91 for six in 15.1 overs.

Aparajith, Indrajith sizzle
Twins B. Aparajith (105, 239b, 8x4) and B. Indrajith (124 not out, 76b, 10x4) starred in Districts-I gaining five points for its first innings lead over City-II on the second and final day of the TNCA under-13 round robin cricket tournament at VB-Nest, Kelambakkam, here on Thursday. The two put on 124 runs for the fourth wicket in 220 balls. The scores: City-II 83 & 166 for four in 58 overs (M. Karthick 40, S.R. Vibhu 85) drew with Districts-I 290 for seven in 90 overs (B. Double for Salem
Chennai and Salem scored a double each in the team events in the Tamil Nadu State Cadets fencing championship organised by Tuticorin District Fencing Association here on Thursday. Chennai won the Foil events in both the boys and girls' sections while Salem won the Sabre events in both the sections. The results (all finals): Boys: Foil: Chennai bt Salem 11-7.
