Kochi: The former MP K.A. Rajan died here on Thursday. He was 85. The body will be kept at the Town Hall here from 12 noon on Friday for the public to offer their last respects. The cremation will be held at the Ravipuram crematorium at 2 p.m. A public meeting will be held at the C. Achutha Menon Hall at 5 p.m. He is survived by wife, Rajamma, and two sons. Elected as Member of Parliament from Thrissur twice, Mr. Rajan was also secretary of the All India Trade Union Congress and a member of the national council of the CPI. CPI State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan said Mr. Rajan had suffered police harassment of the worst kind during the late `40s when the Communist Party was banned.
