Good response to B.E. programmes

Except one in EEE, all other seats have been filled in Bharathidasan Institute of Technology


TIRUCHI: The Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT) of Bharathidasan University is buoyed by the patronage for its B.E. programmes in electrical and electronics engineering, computer science and engineering and electronics and communication engineering towards the end of its month-long single-window counselling for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission 2006.

The institute introduced the three new programmes with 60 seats each with the approval of the university. But for one seat in EEE, all other seats have been filled.

Among its B.Tech. programmes, all the 60 seats have been filled in the information technology discipline. There were 17 takers out of 60 seats for pharmaceutical engineering and technology. The number of admission seekers was 43 and 34 respectively for petrochemical engineering and automobile engineering, informed K. Ethurajulu, Director, BIT.

The institute introduced the new B.E. programmes holding the advantage of five-star rating of Bharathidasan University and enhancement of infrastructure. It has added new buildings too.

The Department of Information Technology is equipped with two laboratories with 240 computers with the latest configurations and necessary software. The students are provided with access to e-journals access at UGC-Infonet.

A TIFAC-CORE course with participation of leading industries and the Central Government and an M.Tech. in computer science and engineering to cater to research and faculty needs of engineering colleges are on the anvil.

In collaboration with Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), an integrated MBA course is offered.

It facilitates select students of BIT (60 a year) to get MBA degree after undergoing an additional year of course work at BIM.
