CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Cabinet on Thursday decided to open state-of-the-art Hotel-cum-Hospitality Management Institutes at Tilyar Tourist Complex in Rohtak and Badkhal Complex in Faridabad under public-private partnership. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the entire investment for setting up the institutes would be borne by the applicant or entrepreneur. These institutes will give degree or diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality Administration, Culinary Art and Travel and Tourism. Mr. Hooda said a committee headed by the Minister of State for Tourism Kiran Choudhary had already shortlisted eight applicants. The Government would give land measuring five acres on lease for 33 years which would be renewable by another 33 years. The Cabinet also decided to exempt certain commodities from tax and also slashed VAT on certain products including desi ghee, candles and processed meat, poultry and fish from 12.5 per cent to four per cent. The Chief Minister disclosed that it was also decided to exempt food served at dhabas and papad from tax. It also approved the draft of an ordinance to be promulgated for setting up of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya at Khanpur Kalan in Sonipat district. It also decided to conduct actual physical survey before taking any decision to regularise 51 unauthorised colonies around Ballabhgarh, old Faridabad town and NIT Faridabad. Mr. Hooda disclosed that the Government had decided to provide relaxation of five per cent marks at the level of Master's Degree to physically and visually handicapped candidates for appointment to the post of Lecturer in College Cadre.
