MANGALORE: The owners of the coastal city bus services will stop their buses on Friday in protest against bad roads between Mukka and Mangalore. According to a press release from the president of the Coastal Route Bus Owners' Association Ramachandra Naik, the national highway in this stretch is so poor that it was impossible to run bus services on it. As a mark of protest, all the buses running in this sector from the association will go off the road on Friday, he said. Mr. Naik said the association was aware of the hardships it will inflict on the passengers but it was also difficult to operate buses in such bad road conditions. If the Government or the department concerned did not act even after stopping the bus service for one day, the association would resort to more radical steps and that might include suspending the services indefinitely. Mr. Naik said Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners' Association had also agreed to suspend all coastal services on Friday. He said Suratkal Consumers' Forum had extended support to the association.
