MANGALORE: Efforts are on to salvage a lorry that fell into the river from Hosmatta bridge on the Subramanya-Uppinangady State Highway on Tuesday evening. The four people, who were in the vehicle at the time of the accident, may not survive. Salvage and rescue efforts were hampered by inclement weather and a steady increase in the water level, according to B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police. Police have identified three of them as Umesh Gowda (28) and Sandeep (22) and Suresh. The last two reportedly boarded the lorry at Aalankar. Kadaba police said the driver crossed the swollen river when he reportedly lost control and fell into the river.
