Police project makes it to U.S. award

HYDERABAD: The `Family Counselling Centres' project launched by the Andhra Pradesh police has made it to the top slot of the 10 finalists for the Webber's Seavey

Awards for quality in law enforcement, instituted by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Virginia, United States.

Another project from the State — Aasra — launched by the Nalgonda police for reform and rehabilitation of sex workers has also found a place among the top 10 projects.

A press release issued by Nalgonda SP said that Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, who took the initiative for the two projects while he served as SP, Adilabad and Nalgonda, would receive the awards in Boston on October 13.
