Sivagiri action council registers protest

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sivagiri Action Council and Sivagiri Yuvajanavedi have registered their protest against the findings of Paripoorna Commission.

At press conference held here on Thursday, K.A. Bahuleyan, convenor, Sivagiri Action Council, and Bijupappan, chairman, Sivagiri Yuvajanavedi, alleged that it was difficult to ascertain the implications of the findings.

Mr. Bahuleyan alleged that attempts were being made to destroy the peace prevailing in the math by toppling the existing administration.

He said that the current governing council came into effect following the directive of the Kerala High Court and with the consent of the Supreme Court. The governing council inducted 12 persons as members in the Dharma Sangham Trust.

However, the Paripoorna commission expelled the members and recognised persons without any qualifications, Mr. Bahuleyan alleged.

The stand taken by the commission in constituting an advisory committee was contradictory. Even as the commission recommends the constitution of an advisory committee, it was unwilling to recognise a committee chaired by critic Sukumar Azhikode, he alleged.
