BANGALORE: A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph, and Justice N.K. Patil on Thursday disposed of an appeal by a suspended official of the Department of Drugs after the State Government filed a memo stating that it would reinstate the employee and transfer him to another post. The appellant, H. Srinivas, who was suspended from service as Assistant Drugs Inspector (ADI), Bangalore, had challenged his suspension from service as well as the dismissal of his application by the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT). In his appeal, Mr. Srinivas said the Government had falsely held him responsible for a newspaper report in a Kannada newspaper on the raids conducted by him to unearth spurious drugs in Bangalore. He said a special team had been formed under him to unearth spurious drugs and it had conducted raids on units manufacturing spurious drugs in Delhi, Diu, Daman, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat. He said on November 19, 2005, he was suspended and alleged that this order had been passed at the behest of some persons. The Bench took on record the memo stating that the State had no objections to reinstate Mr. Srinivas and transfer him to a vacant post.
