Thiruvananthapuram: A three-day `International Travel Expo 2006,' an exhibition of the tourism industry, will begin at St. Joseph School Exhibition Centre on September 7. The exhibition on the tourism industry, held on the last three days of the weeklong Onam celebrations, is being organised by Kerala Tourism. According to the organisers, the event would enable local people to have a glimpse of other Indian States, foreign countries and their products.
The Tourism Boards of Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Maldives and 80 companies connected with airlines, hotels, resorts, houseboats, water theme parks, travel agents, tour operators and hospitals will attend the expo, to be organised jointly by Kerala Tourism, the Indian Trade Fair Foundation, Tourism India Publications and the South Kerala Hoteliers Forum.
Tour operators
Hotels and tour operators from Gujarat, Pondicherry, Goa, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh along with the State Tourism Departments are expected to attend. Tourism Ministers and senior officials from the southern States and leading figures in tourism and aviation will attend a seminar on `Tourism and Aviation' to be held on September 8. Around 150 tourism entrepreneurs, experts and 100 research scholars and postgraduate students selected from universities and colleges all over Kerala will attend the national seminar on `Tourism and Development.'
