Kozhikode: The District Additional Sessions Court awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to three persons on charges of robbery in a case of murder of a bus owner at a railway station eight years ago. A.M. Babu, judge, convicted V. Vijayan, 40, M. Vinu, alias Vinod, 43, and M. Jayan, 31, for robbing Illinkkal Kunhumoosa, 30, hailing from Payyannur, at the Parappangadi railway station, on November 13, 1998. The culprits are from Payyannur in Kannur district. So was the victim. A penalty of Rs. 15,000 each was also imposed on the culprits, failing which they would have to undergo an additional year in prison. The three accused were found guilty under Section 392 (robbery) read with 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. However, the prosecution failed to prove the murder and conspiracy.
