KOTTAYAM: Tourism Week celebrations in the district will get underway on September 3, according to District Collector Raju Narayana Swamy. The celebrations include dance recitals by film actor Shobana, Sukanya and Thara Kalyan, musical evenings by K.S. Chitra, Jayachandran and Jyotsna, magic show by Gopinath Muthukad and light and sound show by `Soorya' Krishnamurthy. "Five Star Mega Show-06" by television artistes and traditional art forms by the Folklore Academy have also been scheduled. A mega canvass painting at the renovated Thirunakkara Grounds will be a major attraction, Mr Swamy s aid. The celebrations will be inaugurated at a special function being organised the main venue, Police Parade Grounds' on September 3 at 11 am. Competitions in Pookkalm, Onappattu and Thiruvathira kali will be held.
