KOLKATA : Train services in the South-Eastern Railway's Kharagpur-Howrah division were disrupted for more than three hours after a partly open suitcase was found between the railway tracks and the girder of a railway bridge over the Rupnarayan river in West Bengal's Purbo Medinipur district on Friday. The authorities cordoned off a portion of the bridge and trains bound for Howrah station were detained at various railway stations. Personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and bomb squad reached the spot. The movement of trains originating from Howrah, however, was not affected as one flank of the bridge was kept free. Normality returned after the RPF personnel, with sniffer dogs, inspected the suitcase and found nothing untoward, a South-Eastern Railway official said. Three suburban EMU services were, however, cancelled owing to disruption in services.
