Sanjay emerges sole leader

BANGALORE: Top seed N. Sanjay defeated M.S. Tejkumar on the top board and shot into the lead with six points at the end of the sixth round in the FIDE-rated Malleswaram Association State chess championship here on Friday. Arvind Shastry and Sriram Sarja are in the second spot with 5.5 points apiece.

KSP bags title

The Karnataka State Police defeated Hasananambba (Hassan) 21-8 in the final and won the State-level kho-kho tournament conducted here by the Ekalavya Youth Club. Bajrangabali (Hesarghatta) defeated Sir M. Visweswariah Club (Bhadravathi) 17-15 and finished third. R. Ashok, Minister for Family Welfare and Health, presided and gave away the prizes.

MAIS sports meet

Mallya Aditi International School's annual sports festival will be held from August 22 to 25. MAIS will conduct inter-school meets in basketball (for under-19 boys and girls), eight-a-side football (for boys) and nine-a-side football (for girls). Eighteen schools have confirmed their entries for the meet.
