Sonepat: A `mysterious' fever has claimed the lives of two sisters and left 10 children hospitalised in Nangal Kalan village of the district, locals said on Friday. The mother of the girls has also been hospitalised. The two girls, who recently died, have been identified as six-year-old Kajal and eight-year-old Naaz. At least 10 more children are suffering from the fever and have been hospitalised, they said. The residents alleged that authorities of the Health Department have failed to take steps to prevent the spread of the fever and have failed to visit the village to inquire about the same. However, Dr Rajinder Prasad, Senior Medical officer of the Community Health Centre, Badh Khalsa village, told reporters that he had no information about the fever in the village. He said two teams of doctors were sent today to the village for taking steps to prevent the spread of the `mysterious' fever. PTI
