ONGOLE: Right to Information Commissioner Dileep Reddy, has expressed dissatisfaction over implementation of theAct in Kandukur sub-division in Prakasam district. He inspected government offices at Singarayakonda, Kandukur and Ponnalur today. Later speaking to newspersons at Kandukur, he said that officials are not able to comprehend the Act even after one year. Though several meetings were held to educate the officials on the scope of the Act, they remain ignorant of various aspects even now reflecting their negligence, he said. He warned that strict action would be taken against officials who wilfully violated the Act and denied information to the applicants and a fine of Rs. 25,000 would be imposed on such officials. He said that every government office, educational institution and hospital should display the name of Public Information Officer and Assistant Public Information Officer to enable applicants seek information. Every office should maintain a register on applications received. They should also maintain charts with 17 items as required under the Act. He inspected mandal revenue offices, mandal development offices, primary health centres, junior colleges, primary schools, panchayat offices, irrigation offices and agricultural office.
