ELURU: A team of Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths led by Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Mahipal Reddy caught a city-based Commercial Taxes Officer red handed on Thursday while allegedly accepting a bribe from a trader. According to information, Jagannadham Vasavi, CTO, was alleged to have received a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a trader Pasumarthi Venkateswara Rao of Sakti Traders for hushing up a case foisted against him. The CTO was reported to have raided the shop of Venkateswara Rao a couple of years ago and seized bill books. She, however, pursuing the case against the trader till date. The ACB sleuths also recovered Rs. 5.5 lakh in cash and 1 kg of gold jewellery from her flat at Ramachandraraopet during the raid.
