ELURU: K.S. Subramanian, deputy general manager, State Bank of India, Vijayawada zone, on Friday said a slew of steps were initiated to check migration of `high-value' customers from SBI to other corporate banks. The DGM inaugurated the office of the `Relationship Manager' at the main branch here. He told reporters the concept of the relationship manager was a part of the exercise to reinforce the bank's `special customers'. The relationship manager would make personal visits to the big borrowers and apprise them of the bank's new products and take personal interest in ensuring hassle-free transactions by them. Another initiative undertaken by the SBI named `Corporate Accounting Group' was aimed to take over the customers of foreign banks. The group launched in the five metropolitan branches in the country would look after the requirements of the top corporate account holders each having Rs. 100 crore plus annual turnover, Mr Subramanian said. Leveraging of technologies for better services to the customers was the bottom line of this initiative that offers hi-tech cash management services, he added. The scheme helped in fast collection and realisation of checks from any corner of the country on centralised basis, he said.
Ease transactions
The DGM informed 3000 urban and semi-urban branches in different parts of the country were brought under the networking of computers. Rural branches would be networked in the next phase, he said. The networking programme was intended to help in making transactions by customers of having account in more than one branch in the country, he explained.
