Special scholarship for SC/ST category

NEW DELHI: Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan on Friday announced that one girl child belonging to the SC/ST category who does not figure in the first three positions in Delhi would be awarded a special scholarship.

Awarding the Ambedkar National Scholarship to 27 students for 2002-2005 at a function in Delhi Secretariat, the Minister said the special scholarship would be awarded by the Ambedkar Foundation. Scholarship cheques and certificates of merit are given to meritorious students of Class X in recognition of their talent.

Annual conference on neuro trauma

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday said a corpus fund was needed to provide proper care to poor trauma victims.

Inaugurating a three-day annual conference of the Neuro-trauma Society of India here, Ms. Dikshit said: "It has to be ensured that proper care is provided to all unprivileged trauma victims as the treatment is expensive. Most private hospitals are wary of doing it as it is difficult to recover the costs later."

The conference will address the entire gamut of caring for trauma victims from preventive and pre-hospital care to community efforts and definitive treatment.

Seminar on career counselling

NEW DELHI: Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, and Vivekanand Institute of Computer Education are organising a seminar on "Career Counselling and Job Fair" here in the Capital for graduate and undergraduate students.

The seminar will be held at Delhi University's Hindu College this Sunday, Sri Sathya Sai International Centre on August 23, and Poorva Sanskritik Kendra on August 24.

Punjab Technical University is offering courses in various streams including fashion and interior designing, para-medical technology, hotel management and mass communication.

Youth Exchange Programme

NEW DELHI: An NCC delegation comprising two officers and 20 cadets returned from a four-day visit to Singapore under the Youth Exchange Programme this past week. The cadets participated in events like camping, weapons firing and adventure activities besides visiting the Singapore Royal Air Force headquarters.

The cadets also got an opportunity to visit various places of historical importance including the Naval Diving Unit, Changi Chapel, Singapore National Museum and Merlion Park. They called on Air Vice Marshal Pravesh Kumar here on Friday.
