Naxals, police exchange fire

MAHBUBNAGAR: There was an exchange of fire between Maoists and police near Appayapalli village in Lingala mandal on Friday evening.

According to information reaching the district headquarters, the exchange lasted for about 15 minutes and no casualty was reported.

Officer on Special Duty Rajesh Kumar said that the police came across a group of 10 Maoists who opened fire on noticing them and the police had to retaliate. However, due to failing daylight, they could not search the area and the combing would continue on Saturday morning.

Dump recovered

Meanwhile, the police recovered a Maoist dump near Regumanigedda in Kollapur mandal on Friday evening. Some 120 kg of gelatine sticks, 25 kg of rice and some revolutionary literature placed in two drums were recovered.
