25-year old youth murdered

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Pulianthope police on Friday arrested a couple from Pazhavanthangal over the murder of a 25-year-old man from Perambur. The two have been remanded to custody. Police said Mohammad Adil's family had complained to the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar police saying he was missing since June 25. Investigation revealed that Adil had contacted Dhanalakshmi of Pazhavanthangal, working in a private bank as a telecaller. Apparently, Dhanalakshmi received obscene SMSes from the youngster after a chance introduction, and told her husband about it. It continued even after Adil was warned.

The police said the couple had later invited Adil to their house, given him a drink laced with sedatives and later strangulated him. The body was disposed of in Pallikkaranai police limits. Incidentally, Pallikkaranai police had registered `hit-and-run' case after discovering the body.

Investigating officers were able to link the body with the missing Adil and arrest the couple. Police are on the lookout for two more suspects.
