COIMBATORE: As many as 6,230 residents have applied for regularisation of their house sites under the new scheme. The special counters of the Coimbatore Corporation that are functioning since August 2 see a constant flow of residents who have waited for years to have their layouts regularised and for amenities such as drinking water, street lights and roads.

Out of the 28,000 sites, many owners have already paid Rs.12 crore development charges under the earlier schemes, the Corporation Commissioner, P. Muthuveeran, said.

The rest were now making use of the new scheme for the regularisation of house sites. The 6,230 residents who received regularisation orders had paid the Corporation Rs.4.78 crore under this scheme.

The Commissioner said 850 residents paid Rs.75 lakh on Friday.

Mr. Muthuveeran and the Deputy Mayor (also Mayor In-Charge), K. Raghupathy, inspected the counters and a special centre at a marriage hall where the applications and fee were being received.
