`JD(S)-BJP coalition will fall soon'

Staff Correspondent

Congress to prefer fresh mandate

Belgaum: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Mallkarjun Kharge has said that the Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition Government will collapse soon.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Mr Kharge said the Congress would prefer a fresh mandate instead of forming an alternative government in the event of collapse of the coalition Government. The party would go it alone in the elections, he said,.

He claimed that the "evidences" the BJP MLC Janardhan Reddy to substantiate his bribery allegations against Chief Minister, H.D. Kumarswamy and his cabinet colleagues would rattle the Government.

He said though the Congress would not "pull down" the Government as the latter was bound to collapse ion its own.

On the claims of former police Sub- Inspector Girish Mattanavar that he saw him [Mr. Kharge] with fake stamp paper kingpin Abdul Kareem Telgi in Bangalore jail, Mr. Kharge said he would not react to charges levelled by a person occupying the position of an "accused". "If any body has any evidence against me, let them please it to the CBI which is investigating into the fake stamp paper scam," he said

Earlier, addressing party workers, he said it was the Congress Government headed by S.M. Krishna that handed over the fake stamp paper case to the CBI when the BJP-led NDA government was at the Centre.
