Personality development programme for students

14 institutes from four southern states to participate


  • `Innovate to Excel' is the theme this year
  • Students will start the day with a yoga session
  • There will be a cultural programme and feedback session

    Coimbatore: Quizzes, business simulation, paper presentations, lectures, games and cultural events will mark the seven-day residential, personality development programme to be conducted by the CMS College of Science and Commerce, at the Karl Kubel Institute at Anaikatti, from August 20 to 26. `Awakening 2006' will be organised by the CMS Institute of Management Studies (CMS IMS) of the college, with participants from 14 management institutes in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

    S. Sandhya Menon, Director, CMS IMS, told reporters here on Friday that the institution was conducting the annual event from 2000 onwards, for final-year postgraduate business administration students. This was the second time that the college had opened the programme to student delegates from other business schools. Twenty-four student delegates from other colleges would take part in the event along with 60 final year MBA students of CMS.

    With teachers staying along with the students in an atmosphere of informal learning and recreation, the event would be conducted on the lines of the ancient Gurukula system. `Innovate to Excel' was the theme this year. She said that the daily activities had been designed to enhance the physical, mental and spiritual development of the participants. Students would start the day with a yoga session, followed by various academic events every morning. Afternoons would be set apart for sports and games.

    Interactive sessions on various aspects of modern business would mark the evening sessions. Students would make multimedia presentations on current topics of national and international importance. At the end of the day, there would be a cultural programme and feedback session.

    A. K. Saxena, Managing Director, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., Bangalore, would be the chief guest for the inauguration on Sunday. Air Commodore D. Mukundan, Commandant, Air Force Adminstrative College, (who would be the guest of honour), would speak on `Leadership in the Armed Forces' and `Principles of War vis-à-vis Competitive Principles of the Corporate World'.

    M. P. Gopalakrishnan, Chairman, CMS Educational and Charitable Trust, would preside.
