New Delhi: A recovery agent of a private bank on Saturday allegedly hanged himself to death at his East Delhi home, police said. Sushil Kumar Nagar, who worked as a recovery agent for HDFC Bank, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his home in Kalyanpuri locality this afternoon, they said.

According to a suicide note found on the spot, Nagar said he was taking the extreme step as he was falsely implicated in four cases, police said.

Woman found killed, robbery suspected

NEW DELHI: A middle-aged woman was found murdered at her Sultanpuri residence in North-West Delhi on Friday. The police suspect it to be a case of robbery.

According to the police, the incident came to light when a neighbour went to meet Saroj and found her lying on the staircase of the first-floor house, bleeding from her head. Subsequently, her 24-year-old son Deepu, who works with a courier company, was informed. He reached the house and rushed her to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

ESI employee held for graft

New Delhi: CBI has arrested an Employees' State Insurance Corporation staffer for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from a person to clear his application for a temporary insurance card.

Sadan Singh, a clerk in the government body, was produced this afternoon before Special Judge Vinod Goel, who remanded him to judicial custody till September 2. Singh was allegedly caught red-handed on Friday at his office on Asaf Ali Road here while taking the bribe from complainant Rakesh Rajora, who works with a private firm Heatex Engineers, CBI told the court.

The probe agency alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1,500 from Rajora to clear the latter's application for a temporary ESI card.

This was despite the fact that the complainant's company had given him an authorisation letter addressed to the public authority for issuance of the card, it added.

Chain-snatchers arrested

NEW DELHI: Two alleged chain-snatchers have been arrested by the Special Staff of the West Delhi police. The police claim to have recovered jewellery worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs, 18 mobile phones and firearms from the accused.

According to the police, accused Vipin and Vishal were arrested at Tilak Nagar in West Delhi on Friday evening. Vipin allegedly fired at the police party before he was caught. In all, the police claim to have recovered 10 gold chains, a country-made revolver and live cartridges at the instance of the accused. The police have also seized a motorcycle and a scooter from the accused.

The police said Vipin and Vishal used to move around marketplaces on a motorcycle and indulge in chain snatching. Vipin's brother, Ajay, allegedly used to follow the duo on another motorcycle.

The moment Vipin and Vishal would snatch a chain and escape, Ajay would reach the spot ostensibly to help out the victim. He would even offer to chase the culprits. Ajay, who too was involved in more than 15 cases of chain snatching, would thus manage to divert the attention of the victim by asking for vague details.
