Mend your broken dreams

M.V. Sai Aparna

TheCollegian Lost out on that dream break in a dream institution? Don't lose heart though. Life is more than a seat in IIT. Given ABC -- ability, breaks and courage -- you can succeed from any corner of the world

NIT, WARANGAL: It was eight `o' clock in the morning. A sunny day with nothing exiting around. But the scenario was entirely different with me. It was the day my IIT results would come out. Constant trials on the phone and on the net kept butterflies flying in my stomach. The minute of serenity was awaited.

It broke out. I was selected. My happiness knew no bounds. Smiling faces around congratulating me for my success. It felt my world to be totally different. But then, I woke up to the reality that I wasn't selected. With shattered dreams I had to return to my pavilion. I remembered the days we studied for the exam, going to college early in the morning, coming back late in the evening. We lost acquaintance with the sun.

Interesting paths

But at some point in our life, we have to realise IIT is not the only thing in life. There are still so many interesting paths around. A failure is always a good start. It makes us aware of our lacunae. It is the zeal within you that should make you work. You should be innovative in order to conquer the world and people around you. It does not matter whether you are from IIT, NIT or EAMCET. It's you that matters.

Everything lies within you. As it is said, success is that old ABC -- ability, breaks and courage. If you have the ability and courage to take advantage of the breaks, nothing can hinder your success. It is suddenly fashionable to become a preacher, but it's alright. It's not too late to lose, at least hope. I want to say it again. You have to give a good start to your day to rekindle the passion in you and to see the sunshine.
