Title for Seshagopalan

CHENNAI:
Carnatic vocalist Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan will be conferred the Sangita Kalanidhi title by the Music Academy on January 1, 2007.
A press release from the Academy said Mr. Seshagopalan had also been chosen to preside over its 80th annual conference to be held from December 15 to January 1. A decision to this effect was taken at its executive committee meeting on Sunday.
Other awards that the committee decided to confer during the 80th conference are: Sangita Kala Acharya (two awards) on C.V. Chandrasekhar and Seetha Rajan; TTK awards (two) on A. Kanyakumari and Padmavathy Ananthagopalan; and the Vaggeyakkara award on Suguna Purushothaman.
The awards will be conferred at the `Sadhas' on conclusion of the conference on January 1, according to the release.
