ANANTAPUR: In a bizarre incident, a person allegedly killed his wife and later committed suicide on their first night at Akuledu village of Singanamala mandal in the district on Saturday night. The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the family members tried to wake up them up. Police said that E. Venkataramana (25) of Tagarakunta village married Saraswathi (22) of Akuledu on Saturday. The couple was brought to the bride's place in the evening. As it was an arranged marriage, elders of both families arranged the first night for them at the bride's place on Saturday night. When the women tried to wake up the couple on Sunday morning, they got no response. When they pushed open the door suspecting something wrong, they found the bridegroom hanging from the ceiling of the room and the bride dead with her head smashed. "Everything was fine till the couple was sent into the room. The two were happy during the day and had even visited a temple in the village after coming from Kadiri," the bride's father Narsappa said. The police found that the groom had smashed the bride's head with a wooden kitchen . Later, he hanged himself to the ceiling.
