HYDERABAD: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday alleged that exemptions under the Office of Profit Bill were made to favour the Congress and the Communist leaders and that the Central Government had set a "bad precedent". He told the State BJP Executive here that the exemptions were made keeping `political qualifications' in view and wanted the criterion to be clearly spelt out. Why were only 40 posts exempted, he sought to know. Any executive post would constitute an office of profit even if the salary were one rupee. Referring to State issues, he told party functionaries that this was the right opportunity for the organisation to grow by launching agitations on issues affecting the people. The BJP leader said the State's political situation was peculiar and the `love-hate' ties between the Congress and the Left on one hand and between the TRS and the Congress on the other should be `exposed', as they had come together before the Assembly elections for `political gain' and `deceived the people'. He ridiculed TRS deadlines on Telangana saying, "How many times had they not set deadlines and got headlines in the past." Now the party leaders were saying the State's future was in the hands of an individual. "Is it such an insignificant issue as to be decided by one individual. Do they think people are so gullible?" he asked. State BJP president N. Indrasena Reddy alleged the State was getting ruined marked among others by "corruption, farmer suicides and political murders". Though eight irrigation projects were promised to be completed within two years to bring an additional 16.5 lakh acres under cultivation, not a single project had been completed. He sought a judicial enquiry into land acquisition for the Outer Ring Road project.
