PATHANAMTHITTA: Religious and spiritual leaders have called upon the Government to protect the age-old ritualistic tradition, customs and practices at Sabarimala. Talking to The Hindu , the senior tantri Kandararu Maheswararu and tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru said "Modern thinking in this scientific age should not be permitted to encroach upon the age-old custom and tradition at Sabarimala." Both the Travancore Devaswom Board and the Government were bound to ensure strict adherence to the customs and practices in the temple. The tantris said the entry of women in the age group 10-50 years into the temple was prohibited as part of tradition. The Pandalam Palace also took exception to the demand.
