Seven college students arrested

Bidar: The Aurad police arrested seven college students on charges of assaulting and robbing three persons from Udgir in Maharashtra. Meanwhile the students have filed a counter case against the latter, for assaulting one of their classmates. Police sources said Santhosh Patne, a college student in Aurad, teased one of the girls in the class. Her father and brother, who stay in Udgir, came to Aurad in a jeep and assaulted him in public view on Friday, police said. Santhosh's friends waited for the trio to cross the border near Vajrabhavi and assaulted the girl's father Vidyakanth, brother Vijay Kumar and their driver Sheikh Babu Mian. According to a police complaint by the latter, the seven boys also robbed them of Rs. 33,000.

Police arrested Raju Venkat, Sanjivkumar Shivling, Ravi Malgond, Ambaresh Narsing, Basavraj Maruti, Rajugowda Narayangowda and Ashok Rajappa. Their friend Balraj Patne is absconding.
