Pondicherry: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, accompanied by Speaker of the Pondicherry Assembly R. Radhakrishnan, legislators, PCC leader P. Shanmugham and officials paid floral tributes at the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of the 62nd birth anniversary of the leader here on Sunday. Members of Hindu, Christian and Islamic religions read out excerpts from religious books, highlighting the need for unity and harmony among people. Students of the Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam presented hymns on patriotism and unity. Mr. Rangasamy administered sadhbavana pledge to those present at the venue. Mr. Shanmugham, who paid tributes at the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi at a function held at the party office, addressed a workers meeting. He said the AICC leader Sonia Gandhi had appreciated the good governance provided by Mr. Rangasamy and his team during his meeting with her in New Delhi recently.
