I was forced to dub Mohanlal's voice: Choudhary

S.R. Ashok Kumar

Producer says he is sorry for what has happened "With the release date finalised, I was under pressure"

Actors Mohanlal and Jeeva in the movie

CHENNAI: Producer R.B. Choudary is sad that the lead actor of `Aran' and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has dissociated himself from the Tamil movie, though he says he understands the latter's feelings. Mohanlal had expressed displeasure that someone had dubbed for him in the Tamil version of the original Malayalam movie.

"I had asked director Major Ravi to get Mohanlal's time to dub his portion in Tamil. Major Ravi told me that the actor had sought Rs.5 lakh to dub in Tamil. We arranged for the money through his auditor. We got a reply asking as to who had fixed the fee for the dubbing. "I kept asking Major Ravi to settle the issue and even asked him to send an SMS to the actor who was in London, asking him for a date for the dubbing.

"However as we had finalised the release date, I was forced to dub it with Rajeev since I did not get a reply from my director. Still, I wanted Mohanlal's voice for his role. I understand his feelings and am sorry about what happened," R.B. Choudary told reporters recently.
