Belgaum: The Belgaum City Corporation has warned owners of pet animals, such as dogs, buffaloes, cows besides pigs, to prevent them from straying on roads and public places and causing inconvenience to people and traffic. In a press release on Saturday, the BCC Commissioner said owners should take permission to keep animals under Section 344 of Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act 1976.
Inconvenience
He said animals were straying on roads and public places, including market places and commercial complexes, causing inconvenience. The BCC had decided to take steps against stray animals in the city, he said. Under Section 345 of the Act, if any animal is found straying on the roads or public places, it can be summarily destroyed by the Corporation. Also, under Section 442, any person who allows his or her animal(s) stray or rest on the roads or public places causing inconveniences to public can be punished or fined suitably. The Commissioner directed the animal owners not to allow their animals to stray and warned of action if they failed to ignore the direction.
