Heavy rain delays Thar Express
Jodhpur:
The first Indian Thar Express, carrying 412 passengers from Pakistan to Munabao in Rajasthan, was held up midway in Barmer district on Sunday when water breached railway tracks due to heavy rains.
The historic train had crossed the international border six hours behind schedule at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening and later left Pakistan's Zero Line platform for the return journey around 10.30 p.m.
It arrived at Munabao at 11.00 p.m., but due to rain-induced power cuts custom and immigration checking took about 10 hours. The train was given the go-ahead at 8.40 a.m. on Sunday morning. However, flooded rail tracks forced it to be stranded at Munabao till 1.45 p.m. PTI
