KOZHIKODE: Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph on Sunday said he would hold discussions with the Union Government on taking up reconstruction of bridges in Malabar which became weak. Mr. Joseph also demanded that the Kochi-Mangalore road be included in the Golden Quadrangle, a National Highway Development Project aimed at connecting the four corners of the country. The Government would approach the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests to seek forest land for laying an alternative road to the Wayanad Ghat. The stone for the construction of the Bairakuppa bridge, near the Kerala-Karnataka border, would be laid soon. The work would be completed in 18 months.
