VIJAYAWADA: North Zone won the ACA inter-zonal under-22 cricket tournament for the Irwin Boatyard Trophy, which concluded at Nallapadu (Guntur) on Sunday. North Zone's P.V.A.N. Raju (five for 41) and Srivardhan (four for 41) bowled well as Central Zone was bowled out for 167 in its second innings. A four-day match between North Zone and rest of the zones will be held from Tuesday. The scores: Central Zone 180 and 167 (Chidambareswara Rao 60, Prabhu Kiran 50, P.V.A.N. Raju five for 41, Srivardhan four for 41) drew with North Zone 263 and 27 for two.
Women's cricket
The Krishna District Women's Cricket Association will conduct a district-level championship from August 21 to 25 at the Siddhartha Medical College grounds in which four teams from the city — St. Joseph's Girls High School (Gunadala), SRR & CVR College, ZP High School (Gampalagudem) and SVBVN English Medium School (Patamata)— will take part.
