Bhattal warns bureaucracy

"Slackness will be dealt with firmly"

  • Govt. will not tolerate playing of golf by them during office hours

    PATIALA: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Sunday said slackness of bureaucracy will be dealt with strictly if the officers did not perform according to policies of the Punjab government in right perspective.

    Presiding over the Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas 2006 here, she said that since she was the chairperson of programme implementation committee, she was evaluating the performance of each bureaucrat and would recommend action against some of them, ``who were hampering the State's administration''.

    She said that some bureaucrats were performing well while some were hampering state's work and rather than attend to official work they preferred to play golf. She said that Government will not tolerate playing golf or any entertainment of bureaucrats during official hours.

    Making a scathing attacks on Akali Dal, she said that party chief Parkash Singh Badal had not participated in the death anniversary function of Sant Longowal for eight years but was now observing it for ``political gains''.

    She also said Mr Badal had remained in power for five years, but had done nothing for the members of Sant's family.

    Later talking to newspersons, Ms Bhattal said that every effort was being made for uninterrupted power supply to the farm sector. She however admitted that some irregularities have been reported in the supply of power for the sector. - UNI
