HUDA to reserve plots for lawyers, says Hooda

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Sunday that the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) would reserve residential plots for lawyers.

Speaking at a function organized by the District Bar Association in Bhiwani, he said that in case there were a large number of lawyers in an area HUDA

would even develop residential sectors for them.

He disclosed that his Government had enhanced the ceiling of annual income to provide free legal service from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 50,000 and 22,000 people had so for availed free legal aid in the State.

While lauding the contribution of lawyers to society, he urged them not to charge heavy fee from the poor.

He said that Rs. 4.25 crores had been sanctioned to computerize courts in the State.

The Minister of State for Tourism, Kiran Choudhry, said that negotiations were on with the Centre to get a separate High Court set up for the State. Mr. Hooda had been making all efforts in this regard, she added.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir, Mundhal MLA Ranbir Singh Mahendra and President of the Bar Association Rishipal Parmar also spoke.

Meanwhile, Mr.Hooda said that his regime had earmarked Rs. 30.50 crores for promotion of sports during the current financial year. It was also proposed to set up a modern sports academy, with Central assistance, in Rohtak, he added while inaugurating a boxing-cum- wrestling hall at the Bhim Stadium complex in Bhiwani in the memory of Arjun and Dronacharya awardee, the late Capt. Hawa Singh.

The Government was also considering a proposal to set up a modern sports complex over an area of 100 acres, he further said.
