CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Sunday that Renewable Energy Parks named after the late Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, were being set up in nine towns of the State and one of these had already been set up in Gurgaon. Addressing a function to mark the birth anniversary of the late Prime Minister at Bhiwani, Mr. Hooda said that Panchayats were being motivated to promote the use of renewable energy and awards had been instituted at the state, district and block level to encourage them. Mr.Hooda said that Rajiv Gandhi had taken several initiatives to ensure that India entered the 21st century as modern and prosperous nation. He had motivated the country to go in for technological advanvcement including use of computers. He had got anti-defection law enacted to promote value- based politics. He also got the voting age lowered to 18 years to enable the youth to participate in the mainstream. He also initiated the process of decentralization of power to empower Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). As part of Sadbhawana Diwas celebrations, Mr. Hooda also administered the oath to the people that they would work to strengthen emotional integration and communal amity without any discrimination of caste, religion, region and language. Also, they would settle all kinds of differences through dialogue and Constitutional means.
