`BJP leadership should take serious note of the bribery allegations' `BJP should take serious note of bribery charges'

BELLARY: BJP MP Basavanagowda Patil Yatnal has come out openly in support of Janardhan Reddy, suspended BJP MLC, who levelled Rs. 150-crore bribery charge against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Home Minister M.P. Prakash and Minister for Forests C. Chennigappa.

Vedike conference

Mr. Patil, who was here to participate in the inaugural function the fifth conference of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike on Sunday, told presspersons that he had met Mr. Reddy and his brother Karunakar Reddy, MP, and held discussions.

He said he fully endorsed the views of Mr. Reddy that the party should come back to power on its own at the national and State level under the leadership of Atal Behari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani.

`Disciplined worker'

He said Mr. Reddy was a disciplined party worker instrumental in building the party in the district. He had never indulged in anti-party activities or uttered anything against the party, Mr. Yatnal said.

`Think of party's future'

He said the party leadership should take serious note of the allegations of corruption made by Mr. Reddy and think about the future of the party.

"I agree with the views of Mr. Reddy. We are not ready to sacrifice the party and its image for the benefit of a few individuals. It is not just the 40 months' governance. We have to think of the next 40 years and also safeguard our `swabhimaana'."

"There are many others in the party, who might not have come out in the open, but are supporting our views," he said.

Replying to a question, Mr. Yatnal said the party had come to power for the first time and favoured that it should continue. But he was categorical that the government should be free from all allegations.

"In my limited capacity, I will once again talk to the leaders to take a right decision in the matter that will protect the image and future of the party, he added.
