Power shutdown

CHENNAI : Power supply will be suspended on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in parts of VOC Nagar, Triplicane, Royapurram, Rangarajapuram, Kaladipet, Ambattur, Park Town and Ice House for maintenance work.

Management symposium

The Forum for Economic Studies by Engineers of Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering will hold the annual management symposium on Tuesday at the college.

Disaster management workshop

The National Service Scheme and the Directorate of Technical Education has organised a daylong workshop on disaster management at Sri Sairam Polytechnic College in West Tambaram.

Mock drill and demonstration will be held by the Fire department.

Competitions will be held for the NSS volunteers.

Contests for children

Meenakshi Rajagopal Trust and Shi-ba Fine Arts Academy will hold a contest for children on Sunday for school students below 10 years of age, on various topics including drawing, bhajans, fancy dress, sloka recitation and music.

Round Table celebration

Madras Round Table No. 1 held its independence day celebration at Lady Nye Mrt-1 special higher secondary school, at Pallipattu.

Author Kanimozhi and Actor Jeeva participated in the programme.

Office bearers

J.P. Anand Babu was elected president, S. Krishnamoorthy, secretary, B.M. Jeeva Reddy, treasurer for the year 2006-07 of the Lions Club of Chennai Harrington Avenue.

The office bearers were installed by K.S. Lakshmi, district chairman for leadership at a function held last week.

Drawing competition

A drawing competition will be held on September 3 at Kola Perumal Vaishnav School in Arumbakkam for school students.

The topic will be announced at the venue and children must bring colouring materials.

Blood donation

The Lions Club of Madras Coast Town will organise a blood donation and holistic camp in association with the Indian Overseas Bank, Mylapore on the occasion of the bank's 50th anniversary. The programme will be held at the branch.

Mind management programme

State Bank of India conducted a programme on mind management for its employees on Saturday.

The programme included lectures and an interactive session on reorienting the mind and relieve stress.
