HYDERABAD: Greentech Trade Fairs will organise `Safety-plast-print 2007', an exhibition on fire and safety, plastic and rubber and print & pack, at Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai from February 22 to 24 next year. Being organised in the light of heightened global terror alert, the exhibition will be attended by 600 companies in the country and abroad including National Safety Council (USA), British Safety Association (UK), QSS Safety Pvt. Ltd (Singapore) and Wagnor Fire Consultants (Dubai). Addressing a press conference, Greentech Trade Fairs president Kamaleshwar Sharan, who was here on Saturday to invite the industry to participate in the event, said the expo was aimed at bringing all the companies under one roof for mutual benefit. Despite the rapid development witnessed across the country, the fire and safety regulations were inadequate. Citing some major fire accidents in the State in the recent past, he said Andhra Pradesh did not have enough fire stations and fire engines to counter fire accidents. While there was a requirement of 2,700 fire stations, a little more than 230 were actually operational in the State. This was also the case with other major cities like Bangalore and New Delhi. He said the Indian industry presently stood at Rs. 1,500 crores and was expected to go up five times in the coming decade.
