TRS Ministers may quit Cabinet tomorrow

Special Correspondent

Party gears itself for a `fast unto death' by Chandrasekhar Rao in Delhi from the next day

  • TRS chief likely to lodge protest at Cabinet meeting
  • Party MLAs to be present at venue of the fast
  • To return to State capital and create furore in Assembly

HYDERABAD: The resignation by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders, K. Chandrasekhar Rao and A. Narendra, from the Union Cabinet on Tuesday became a certainty as the party has geared itself for a `fast unto death' by Mr. Rao at Jantar Mantar in Delhi from the next day.

Sources said Mr. Rao and Mr. Narendra would submit their resignations to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the meeting of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) on Tuesday evening. The TRS chief is expected to lodge his strong protest at the delay by the Centre in conceding the demand for Telangana.

    Fast programme

Mr. Rao and Mr. Narendra may walk out of the meeting after submitting their resignations to the Prime Minister. The TRS chief would launch an indefinite fast at the busy Jantar Mantar the next day to attract the attention of the nation.

The party MLAs would be present at the agitation initially but it is likely that they may return to the State capital to create a furore in the Assembly later.
