Thiruvananthapuram: A constable on foot patrol was injured in an attack by miscreants at Chengalchoola in the Cantonment police station limits on Sunday evening. The policeman Chandran and his colleague were on an evening beat when they received a message about a drunken brawl some way ahead. On seeing the policemen approach, two of the anti-social elements fled, but the rest turned against them. In the ensuing scuffle, Mr. Chandran's hand was hacked. He was rushed to the hospital to have the torn flesh stitched.
Squads despatched
The police control room despatched squads all over the city to look out for the assailants who escaped on two-wheelers. Three of the attackers were later arrested. The police have launched a manhunt for three others. The weapon used by the assailants was also recovered.
