Laudable step

Sir, — The Transport Minister has announced the introduction of 1,000 more Volvo buses with a 30 per cent reduction in fare. This is a laudable step. Likewise, he should introduce buses for common commuters with 30 per cent reduced fares. In case, he finds it not feasible, private operators should be encouraged to run low-cost services to give relief to commuters of low-income groups.

Improve service

Sir, — There are very few buses starting from ISRO Layout towards Vidhana Soudha and Majestic between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Students and office-goers find it difficult to reach their destinations in time as the drivers do not stick to the schedule. It is suggested that buses starting from Kumaraswamy Layout to Vidhana Soudha and Majestic could be extended up to ISRO Layout. The frequency of route no 276 bus and those plying to Majestic should be increased. Buses should be introduced towards Yeshwanthpur, Vijayanagar and RT Nagar from ISRO Layout.

In poor shape

Sir, — Vidyamanyanagar is in II stage of Andhrahalli under Herohalli Gram Panchayat. One mud road in Vidyamanagar that connects Andhrahalli and Peenya II Stage is in poor condition with too many potholes. It cannot be used by pedestrians or motorists. The authorities concerned should look into the matter. The other mud road connecting Herohalli and Andhrahalli main road is also unusable. These two mud roads should be repaired and tarred at the earliest.
