Mysore season from August 24

Mysore: The 18-day Mysore racing season will commence on Aug. 24 and will conclude on Oct. 22, said Dr. N.M. Sreenivas, Chairman and Senior Steward, in a press conference on Monday.

The total advertised stakes is Rs.2.72 crores, including the value of trophies and cups. He said that the actual stake money of Rs.2.65 crores would go over Rs.3.50 crores due to the division of races and Sweepstakes.

He said that the track has been maintained with utmost care and is expected to have a good underfoot condition throughout the season.

About 700 horses are expected to participate and almost all trainers of Bangalore will race their wards during the season. All jockeys licensed by BTC and jockeys working with outstation trainers such as Mr. R. Foley and Mr. Vijay Singh of Chennai and Kolkata respectively will don the silks.

To facilitate faster transaction at the totalizators, the tote computer Server has been upgraded and also a new totalizator pool viz., Exacta Pool has been introduced.

Irani Gold Cup - Oct. 13, Poonawalla Mysore Derby 2006 and Daisy Appoo Cup - Oct. 22.
