MOSCOW: A powerful bomb blast tore through a Moscow market on Monday morning, killing at least eight persons and injuring about 30. The explosion equivalent to 1.5 kg of TNT hit the Cherkizovsky market at about 10:15 a.m. Moscow time. The bomb placed inside a goods container caused the collapse of about 2,000 square feet of "light construction" in a two-story building at the market, to collapse, the Interior Ministry said. Police said there were two children among the eight killed. Other sources said 10 persons were killed. Investigators did not rule out that the explosion was a terror attack, but said it seemed to be more likely connected to organised crime or commercial disputes. It is one of the biggest consumer goods markets in Moscow dominated by Vietnamese and Chinese traders.
