Two children killed, 40 injured in road accident

THE MANGLED REMAINS: The bus and the maxi-cab which collided near Gulbarga city on Monday.

GULBARGA: Two children were killed in an accident involving a North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) bus and a maxi-cab near Gulbarga University on the outskirts of Gulbarga on Monday.

The police gave the names of the dead as Sabanna (10) and Anisa (3). Forty people were injured.

The condition of five persons was said to be serious.

Hospitalised

The injured were being treated at the Government General Hospital and the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital here, the police said.

The police said that the bus was proceeding towards Gurmitkal in Yadgir taluk and the maxi-cab towards Gulbarga from Sedam when the accident occurred.
